Goals & Objectives
This course will provide the student with a working knowledge of business IT applications in four different topical areas:
Digital enterprise: Introduction to Business Information Systems (IS) and Digital Enterprise Management
Process modeling: Business Process Management (BPM) and business process modeling using Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN).
Database management: Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and Entity Relationship Modeling (ERM), including basic SQL programming.
Content management: Content Management Systems (CMS), especially with blogging software.
All content sections are introduced through theory, case studies and practical exercises in class. The course is also supported by this blog and by the school’s open source management system ILIAS.
Student team projects and mastering the different Internet and IT tools are an integrated topical part of this course.
